There’s lots of conflicting information about hair color out there. Nailing down hair color myths and facts can be tricky, but Inspire is here to help! We’ll address some common hair color myths and break down the facts so that you can feel informed when booking your next hair color service.
Myth: Going lighter will make my hair frizzy and damaged.
Fact: Going lighter will always cause some form of stress to the hair, but not necessarily frizz or damage. A knowledgeable stylist that does a thorough consultation will make sure that your hair is healthy enough to go lighter, as well as recommend any products you’ll need to care for your new, lighter color! Blonde hair does need special hair with products rich in protein to keep your blonde healthy and strong.
Myth: Going from blonde to brunette is easy!
Fact: Switching hair color isn’t as simple as applying hair dye and seeing instant colors results! Blonde hair color lacks certain pigments that need to be replaced to achieve rich, long lasting brunette hues. This usually requires two steps: ‘filling’ the hair to replace the missing pigment + then a second coloring process to achieve your desired tone! Without replacing the pigments that blonde hair is missing first, your hair could look drab or even green or blue!
Myth: All hair coloring products are harmful.
Fact: We want to be honest with you. There is no such thing as 100% organic hair color. Hair coloring needs some synthetic ingredients to work properly. However, we choose the safest options for our clients with minimal ingredients and toxins. We are proud to use Original Mineral and Color Space in our salon!
