So you’ve just finished pampering yourself with a visit to the salon, but don’t know when you should schedule your next visit. Read on to see our recommendations for when to book your next hair appointment to keep your hair looking its best!
The time between haircut services depends on your goals and hair length. But there are some general guidelines that we like to follow.
If you have hair above your shoulders, book a haircut every 4-6 weeks. Short hair loses its shape the quickest. Your cut can start to feel bulky, flip out, or hang around the face if not shaped about once a month.
If you have hair longer than shoulder length, book a haircut ever 8-10 weeks. Longer hairstyles are able to hold their shape for longer, but you should still maintain those ends. Going longer than 10 weeks can cause hair to split up the individual hair strand, weakening the perimeter of your haircut.
Hair tends to grow about 1/2″ per month, so if you color your hair to get complete grey coverage, we recommend coming back for a root touch-up in 4-6 weeks.
Most highlighting services are so low-maintenance, that you might not need them touched up very often at all. But the gloss over your highlights will fade in about 4-6 weeks. If you start to feel too light or brassy, popping in for a quick gloss appointment can extend the time between lightening services significantly!
Many of our highlighting services are intended to be low maintenance, so it isn’t uncommon to go 3-6 months between appointments. This does vary depending on how much brightness you like to see around your face, or if you like seeing more depth at your root as your highlights grow out.
